The 75th Co(s)mic ComicBook B'Cast: More Old Comics
Hi there Comic Fans,
Welcome to the 75th Co(s)mic ComicBook B'Cast and for this edition of the broadcast, I'm still sharing my collection of old comicbooks, you remember, the ones I found in my storeroom recently. I'm still going through the comics I found and wondering what to do with them.
I'm leaning towards bagging and boarding them but right now I'm not sure if I can afford to do that right now. Why? Well, being that I'm based in Borneo, it's really really expensive for me to buy the bags and boards. I would have to buy them from the US. The bags and boards themselves is affordable but the cost of shipping would be astronomical. Well, I'll see what I can do.
So while I make up my mind about what I should do (I can't just leave them to rot in the storeroom again) I'm going to share these comics with you.
This time around I'm going to talk about a bunch of Avengers comics I found. I remember reading these issues of The Mighty Avengers almost religiously. At the time the only way for me to read comics was to buy them from the newspaper vendors and book stores. These stores would sell books of all kinds, magazines and newspapers.
Looking back, I'm actually surprised that there were comics being sold. Yeah, I was pretty lucky that I could even find these comics, I didn't think so at the time but looking back now, I think I was "lucky" that I could even get comics back in the day.
So here are some of the issues I got of the Mighty Avengers:
That's The Mighty Avengers # 249 written by Roger Stern, penciled by Allen Milgrom and inked by Joe Sinnott together with a whole bunch of other inkers. I loved this issue, this issue had guest stars galore. Back in the "old" days guest stars were something rare and important. The main storyline in this issue is a continuation from Thor #349 and continued in Thor #350.
Who were the guest stars? Well there were: Asgardians; Beta Ray Bill; the Avengers [Captain Marvel [Monica Rambeau]; Hawkeye (seen in a video recording); Hercules; the Scarlet Witch; Starfox; Thor [Donald Blake]; the Vision; the Wasp]; Deathurge; the Fantastic Four [the Human Torch [Johnny Storm]; Mr. Fantastic; She-Hulk]; Gary Cody; ISAAC; Maelstrom; Malekith (flashback); Surtur (flashback); Surtur's demons; the Warriors Three [Fandral; Hogun; Volstagg]
This is another issue of the Mighty Avengers I found in my storeroom. Unfortunately, the comic was NOT in good condition. If you want to know how bad, well I've got a video about this issue on my YouTube Channel, I've included the link so you can have a look. This issue was a big one, it was a double sized issue and (I'm going to use these words again) back in the day when they say Double Sized, it was really double sized, not like today. Roger Stern delivered another great story featuring two teams, The East Coast Avengers teaming with the West Coast Avengers going up against Maelstrom. Cool Issue with breakdowns by Al Milgrom, while Joe Sinnott did the finishes (pages 1-10, 31-40); Ian Akin (finishes) (pages 11-20); Brian Garvey (finishes) (pages 11-20); Roy Richardson (finishes) (pages 21-30)
This is another issue I found, The Avengers # 256 sporting a cover by John Buscem and Tom Palmer. Here's a little trivia for you, starting with this issue, there was a new cover logo designed by a reader named Steven Bove (who supplied the basic idea) and Mike Higgins (who did the modifications).
Here's more trivia, in this issue Hercules wears a new costume designed by John Byrne. Here's a look at that new costume.
This issue was written by Roger Stern, John Buscema did the breakdowns and Tom Palmer did the finishes.
So if you want to have a look at these issues and more, then click on the link down below and go to my YouTube Channel to have a look at these issue of the Mighty Avengers.

The 74th Co(s)mic ComicBook B'Cast: Revisiting Some Old Comics
It's been a while since I last posted. I promised that I would keep this blog of mine going and I have been trying. The start of the new year has not been....well, it hasn't been kind. I've had to cope with a lot of changes and it's taken up most of my time but I promised to keep my little blog going and I fully intend to do so. No matter what.
Just the other day I was trying to sort out my storeroom and I spotted a bunch of old comics. I had forgotten these old comics and left them in my store room. I guess after you move a few times, you kind of forget and sometimes lose a few things. I took them all out and started to go through them and found some nice issues. A few, well many were the comics I bought when I was still in school and some I bought after I started working. They brought back some memories. That got me excited about these classics again and I decided to go looking in the store room and see if I could find some more old comics.
Well I did and the video you're about to see will feature a few of these comics.
Some of them are in pretty good condition but many are in really bad shape. My fault. Entirely. I left them in the store room.
Well, here;s the link to my YouTube Channel and my new video on these Old Comics of mine. I hope you'll like this video, leave me a comment, a like and maybe subscribe to my channel.

The 73rd Co(s)mic ComicBook B'Cast: A Magnificent Series: Secret Wars Revisited.
When I set out to record the latest video for my YouTube Channel: Comicbook Broadcaster, I decided to talk about the Marvel Superheroes Secret Wars Limited Series that was released in 1984 (wow!) it didn't dawn on me that I had already talked about Secret Wars right here on my blog. Yeah I did, I had totally forgotten. So, instead of giving up, I decided to go ahead and record the video and post it up on YouTube. That brings us to the 73rd Co(s)mic ComicBook B'Cast: A Magnificent Series: Secret Wars Revisited. Long title, I know but I couldn't think of anything snappy.
Now if you want to have a look at my previous blog entries on Secret Wars, I thought I would include the links for you, yes I said links, there's more than one, there were THREE, count 'em THREE entries I did on Secret Wars. Here they are:
You can read Part one here:

Part two:

and finally Part three here:

and finally Part three here:
So there you go. Now you might be asking, why do a video on The Secret Wars Limited Series if I've already covered it in my blog. Well, when I was doing my homework researching the Limited Series, I realized that come May of this year, Secret Wars will be 33 years old. 33 years old, that's a whole living person right there. I was shocked, well impressed is the better word and when I asked around if anyone remembers Secret Wars, many people were still fans of the Limited Series and remember it fondly. many would credit Secret Wars as the comic series that brought them in comics. Wow! Some would call Secret Wars one of if not the most significant comic book series ever. It's a highly rated series right up there with Crisis on Infinite Earths from DC Comics. High praise indeed.
And Secret Wars had a really great storyline behind it. The Superheroes of Earth go missing, nobody, not even the other superheroes knew what had happened to them. Leaving everyone wondering "WHERE ARE THEY?"
Well, we knew where our heroes were. On Battleworld and they were not alone.
Yeah.... they had a few...friends with them and they even brought with them a really, really, really BIG dude.
Galactus gets knocked out!! Wow and all this happens in the first issue of Secret Wars. It was also in Secret Wars that Spider-Man got a new costume.
You get the idea, overall Marvel Superheroes Secret Wars was indeed a truly exciting and in those days a ground breaking mini or limited series. Over the years there have been many series similar to Secret Wars but I still treasure this unique 12 issue Limited Series. Okay, so let's get to the video I recorded for my YouTube channel about Marvel Superheroes Secret Wars.
Here's the link to my YouTube Channel:
Hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for dropping by for this edition of the Co(s)mic ComicBook B'Cast. If you have the time, please leave me a like on my channel, leave a comment and subscribe to my channel. I appreciate it. Until next time, take care and enjoy your comics!!

The 72nd Co(s)mic ComicBook B'Cast: Every Geek Guy's Dreams Come True!
When someone describes your comicbook as:
"A charming debut, the dialogue displays a witty back and forth that would make Kevin Smith proud."
The words of: Kris Bather, Broken Frontier.
I would consider that high praise. Then again I am a huge Kevin Smith fan, so it goes without saying that Geek Girl would be something I would enjoy. Welcome to the 72nd Co(s)mic ComicBook B'Cast. For a change I'm not going to talk about a comic book by Sam Johnson called GEEK-GIRL but I am going to talk about GEEK GIRL by Sam Johnson....................wait, what??
Now for those of you who are not familiar with Geek-Girl, here's a little story about her.
When 'Little Miss Popular' Ruby Kaye lands a pair of super-tech glasses (invented by brainiac college geek Trevor Goldstein) in a game of Strip Poker, she's granted flight, super-strength, and - due to a flaw in the glasses' programming - super-klutziness!
And this is just the beginning of the changes the glasses will wreak on Ruby says creator/writer Sam Johnson (The Almighties, Cabra Cini: Voodoo Junkie Hitwoman); “The tech in the glasses that college chick ‘It Girl’ Ruby selfishly gets a hold of will have a profound effect on her - altering the very ways she thinks and acts. And ‘wreak’ is an appropriate choice of word, as the majority of her ‘cooler-than-thou’ clique ain’t gonna be too impressed with the changes the specs bring about in Ms. Ruby Kaye.
If you're wondering how is it I never heard about Geek Gil and you're asking what do I need to do to to get a hold of Geek Girl? Well you are in luck because according to Sam Johnson, there's a specially priced 'Jump-On-issue,' Geek-Girl #3, featuring a bonus recap of Geek-Girl #1-#2, Ruby is ready to fully embrace being a super-hero. ...But is she ready for Mr. Mash-Up?

“Ruby
got the glasses on a whim, by getting their inventor [her resident college
brainiac, Trevor Goldstein] drunk and winning them from him in a game of Strip
Poker,” says Geek-Girl's creator/writer Sam Johnson; “She didn't really think
what she'd do with them, and the first thing she wound up doing was
alienating the majority of her shallow girl friends by, not used to the
physical strength they give her, knocking drinks over them and - at least in
their eyes – making a fool of herself.
“But
one friend who did stick by her is her BFF Summer James,” Johnson continues;
“Summer encouraged Ruby to uses her powers in the way that we, as comic fans,
would expect, and to get to grips with her new identity. Ruby is now ready to
be a super-hero, and she's out looking for crime. D-List super-villains
Monsieur A and A-Juan – a.k.a. A Game – are her first targets... but from
there, things are going to get a little... weird...
“Mr.
Mash-Up is something quite different; the bastard love child of a demon and a
goddess, Mash-Up (a.k.a. Arin Zahne) has a dark, twisted agenda, and when Ruby
sets out to take him down, she's going to get hit where it really
hurts.”
Are you as intrigued as I am? You
can find out what that's going to mean for Ruby in Geek-Girl #3, written
by Johnson, illustrated by Carlos Granda, and published by Markosia; Out Now
and available in specially priced $2.99 Regular, $1.99 Digital, and Limited
Variant editions at www.geekgirlcomics.com
and www.comixology.com
Oh before I forget, here's a look at the variant cover for Geek Girl # 3.
And here's what others are saying about Geek Girl, don't just take my word for it, here's what they said:
"A
brilliant premise, an interesting character, and intriguing prospects for the
future."
-Chris
Orr, Dress Like The Hulk.
“A
great series to get into if you’re looking for something super-hero related but
original and interesting in its own right.” -Jay Brown, Comic Sleuth.
“This
book is every geek guy's fantasy come true!” -Mark L. Miller, Ain't It Cool
News.
“Geek-Girl puts the human back in
super-human.” -Wayne Hall, Major
Spoilers.
"A charming
debut, the dialogue displays a witty back and forth that would make Kevin Smith
proud." -Kris Bather, Broken
Frontier.
That's it for this edition of The Co(s)mic ComicBook B'Cast, don't forget to check out Geek-Girl on www.geekgirlcomics.com or Geek Girl's facebook page: www.facebook.com/geekgirlcomic/
